I was born in Haarlem in 1975. From a young age I was a reliable partner for conversation who dared to name what was not discussed and saw the challenge in making people think about what was really going on. From those experiences, psychology became a fascinating field full of possibilities and growth; for my patients and myself.
I started my career in 2000 as an educationalist in families where one of the parents developed a serious disability or illness, whether temporary or not, and as a result could no longer continue their responsibilities as a parent and caretaker of children in the usual way.
Subsequently, I specialized in the system-oriented treatment method and I became a practitioner of mentally challenged children and adolescents with a psychological or psychiatric disorder within the top clinical mental health care system. Later on I offered observation and treatment to children placed out of their home and devoted myself to the psychology of adolescence with the specialisms autism, gender dysphoria, (highly) giftedness and sexuality, also as an special-task employee for Noord-Holland and West-Friesland.
In that period, I worked with children, adolescents and adults as a system practitioner until 2017. In order to be able to use my provocative approach and its success more widely, my practice for provocative psychological treatment was created. I work closely with various learning and care centers, associations, specialized organizations and practices.
In shaping the transition from youth care to the municipalities, I worked from 2014 to 2020 within the social domain as a treatment specialist, treatment coordinator and supervisor for a large municipality in West Friesland and I was involved in projects related to diversity and culture.
I work for several professionals in the mental health deoartment as a supervisor, work guidance counselor and treatment coordinator.

In 2019, colleagues through Global Health & Pharma (GHP) awarded me the international Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Award for 'Most Outstanding in Psychiatric Disorder Treatment' for my work for (ethnic) minorities:

Of course my knowledge and skills are enriched and kept relevant through education, seminars, lectures, workshops, training and courses in various specialized areas within my field. I also give lectures and workshops based on my different expertise to institutions, foundations and organizations.
