ABOUT ME
Hello there, I am Arthur Hofman
I was born in Haarlem in 1975. From a young age, I was a reliable conversational partner for people, one who dared to name what was not being discussed and saw the challenge in making them think about what was really going on. From those experiences, psychology became a fascinating field full of possibilities and growth; for my patients and myself.
I started my career in 2000 as an agogist in families where one of the parents acquired a serious disability or illness, whether temporary or permanent, and was consequently no longer able to continue fulfilling their responsibilities as a parent and educator of children in the usual manner.
Subsequently, I specialized in the systemic treatment method and became a therapist for children and adolescents with mild intellectual disabilities and a psychological or psychiatric disorder within top-clinical mental healthcare. Later, I provided observation and treatment to children placed in out-of-home care and devoted myself wholeheartedly to the psychology of adolescence, specializing in autism, gender dysphoria, exceptional (high) giftedness, and sexuality, while also serving as the designated specialist for North Holland and West Friesland.
During that period, until 2017, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults as a systemic therapist. To be able to apply my provocative approach and its success more broadly, my practice for provocative psychological treatment was established. I collaborate with various municipalities, knowledge and care centers, associations, advocacy organizations, and specialized practices.
During the shaping of the transition of youth care to the municipalities, I worked within the social domain from 2014 to 2020 as a treatment specialist, treatment coordinator, and work supervisor for a large municipality in West-Friesland, and was involved in projects concerning diversity and culture.
I work as a supervisor, work mentor, and treatment coordinator for various professionals in Youth and Adult Care.

In 2019, I was awarded the international Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Award for 'Most Outstanding in Psychiatric Disorder Treatment' by colleagues via Global Health & Pharma (GHP) in recognition of my work for minorities—whether ethnic or not:

Naturally, my knowledge and skills are enriched and kept relevant through educational programs, seminars, lectures, workshops, training sessions, and courses in various specialized areas within my field. In addition, I give lectures and workshops based on my various areas of expertise to institutions, foundations, and organizations.
